Native content centric mobile applications typically require a significant client complexity to manage and display the application content. Furthermore, data, application control and display are tightly coupled making any future changes tedious and costly. As an alternative mobile web applications do not suffer from these limitations but lack a close platform integration and are not capable of delivering state of the art UI functionality incl. animations.
With our new Canoo.net Android and iPhone application we combined the best aspects from both worlds. Ready-to-render html snippets are served to a native application controller featuring high usability and appealing design, but low complexity and improved maintainability. As a welcome side-effect cross-platform adaption is facilitated.
